Understanding Simple Cremation: How Does It Work

When planning a funeral, many families are looking for an option that balances simplicity, dignity, and affordability. A simple cremation offers a meaningful funeral service without the additional costs and complexities that can sometimes accompany more elaborate arrangements.

At Stephen M. Godber Funerals, our Simple Cremation package provides a personalised and attended funeral service, allowing family and friends to come together and pay their respects while keeping arrangements straightforward and affordable.

What Is a Simple Cremation?

A simple cremation is an attended cremation service that includes all the essential elements needed for a respectful and meaningful farewell.

Unlike a direct cremation, where no service takes place, a simple cremation allows loved ones to gather, reflect, and celebrate a life well lived.

It is an ideal choice for families who would like a traditional funeral service but prefer a more modest approach without unnecessary extras.

How Does a Simple Cremation Work?

The process is designed to be straightforward while ensuring your loved one receives the highest standard of care.

Bringing Your Loved One Into Our Care

Your loved one is respectfully transferred into our care, where they remain under the supervision of our experienced funeral team throughout the arrangements.

Preparation and Viewing

We carefully prepare, wash, and dress your loved one and provide an opportunity for family members to visit them in our private Chapel of Rest if they wish.

Funeral Arrangements

Your dedicated Funeral Director will guide you through the arrangements, helping you choose a suitable date and time for the service and coordinating all necessary paperwork and crematorium arrangements.

The Funeral Service

Family and friends attend the cremation service at the chosen crematorium. An officiant leads the service, which can include readings, prayers, music, and personal tributes to reflect the life of your loved one.

Returning the Ashes

Following the cremation, the ashes are returned to the family in a scatter tube, allowing you to decide how you would like to commemorate your loved one.
